CELEBRATING ENGINEERS WEEK (FEBRUARY 21-27)

Founded in 1961 by the National Society of Professional Engineers, Engineers Week or “EWeek” is dedicated to celebrating how engineers make a difference in the world. In industries across the globe, engineers are problem-solvers essential in shaping the future. Many of the things we take for granted every day – fresh water, electricity, roads, safe buildings and homes, cell phones, computers and countless more – exist because of an engineer’s ability to visualize and create solutions for real-world problems. At Caterpillar, it is unmistakable how important our more than 10,000 engineers and technologists are in tackling global challenges. Our engineers [...]

MULTIPLE LIVES: A WIN-WIN-WIN

Try to picture it – you’re driving down the road and you see a convoy of 212 fully loaded Cat 797 Mining Trucks. The convoy is longer that your eyes can see.  It's more than 85,000 tons of material.   An impressive load indeed. Now imagine those loads are made up of cores – engines, components, starters, alternators, oil coolers, hydraulics and others – destined for Caterpillar's remanufacturing facilities.  All of it – 85 thousand tons of material being brought back to fully functioning, like new condition, even with the same warranty as a new component. That’s the Caterpillar [...]

My first [...]

CATERPILLAR AND THE BIG GAME

There were only 100 days until the big game. It wasn’t just any big game, it was literally called the Big Game – the annual football showdown between Stanford and California. Stanford had the home game during the 1921 season, and they planned on playing the game at their stadium. There was only one problem: The stadium they wanted to play in wasn’t built yet. The grounds on the Stanford campus where they wanted the football team to have a place to call home was a blank canvas, and it needed to be turned into a place fit for the oldest rivalry in [...]
